Invitation to founding of ILPS-Canada Chapter in Toronto May 21

Dear friends,

You are hereby invited to attend the Founding Assembly of the International League of Peoples’ Struggle (ILPS) – Canada Chapter this coming Saturday, May 21, 2011, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This will be a important opportunity to push forward the anti-imperialist struggle in Canada by uniting and coordinating the actions and voices of anti-imperialist militants from coast to coast to coast. The keynote speaker will be ILPS Chairperson, Prof. Jose Maria Sison.

Please confirm your participation at the founding assembly of the ILPS-Canada Chapter by Monday, May 16, so the Toronto organizing committee can finalize lodging and other arrangements. See contact list below. Rides from Montreal (and Ottawa) to Toronto available.

All anti-imperialist mass organizations in Canada who agree with the Charter of the International League of People’s Struggle and at least one of the 18 Concerns of the League are invited to apply for membership in the ILPS and to attend the Founding Assembly of the ILPS-Canada Chapter. Observers to the Assembly are also very welcome if you are interested in learning more about the organization.

Please contact ILPS-Canada members in your region (see contacts below for those closest to you) to arrange your participation in the ILPS-Canada Chapter Founding Assembly. You will receive details about the Assembly location as well as a Program of activities, draft Campaign Proposal, draft Unity Statement and draft Constitution. These documents will be discussed, amended and accepted by the Assembly.

Please also inform the regional contacts if you require billeting for Friday, May 20 and Saturday, May 21, 2011. The Assembly will include food ($10 donation) and translation, and will be followed by a solidarity evening.

NOTE 2: Member Organizations of the ILPS-Canada Chapter will be eligible to fully participate in the upcoming Fourth International Assembly (4IA) of the ILPS to be held in the Philippines this coming July 7-9, 2011. Observers also welcome at the 4IA.
